Miyeon (Piano & composer)

Pianist Miyeon graduated from ChungAng University
with degree in music composition.
When she was young, she started study in classical piano,
she began her study in 20th Contemporary music and Jazz
study from Satoh Masahiko.

She composed music of the film "Young Lover", "Sa-ja-sung-eo",
KBS tv drama "Tae yang in-Lee Jema",
play togather Kang Tae Hwan(as), Satoh Masahiko(pf), Ned Rodenberg (as,cla), Umezu Kazutoki(as,ss), Gerry Hemingway(dr), Otomo Yoshihide(elec). Wittwulf.Y.Malik (cello)

She released the CD "Simple Trust"(solo),
"Tae yang in-Lee Jema"(sound track), "Improvised Memories"with

  Park Je Chun- miscellaneous percussion

Percussionist Park Je Chun is widely regarded as a pioneer in the
movement of combining western jazz with traditional Korean music.
Born in 1961 in Seoul Korea and graduated from ChungAng University in 1986 with a degree in music composition. After graduation. he began his study in Korean traditional music the art of 'Pansori' (story telling music), the 'Chango' drum and the
music of the 'Shamans'.
1n 1991 he formed his own rock group. The group got good opularity in korea .As that time he had been play 'Pansori 'singing and Korean big drum. The group had concert in Japan(Osaka) played with Kitaro(keyboard,daiko).
in 1993 he formed new group named "Mol-e mori" and released the CD "Mol-e mori", the first of his work to feature the combination of traditional korean music and jazz. To facilitate playing this fusion of styles, Park performs on a unique percussion set-up consisting of korean and western instruments.
in 1996, Park formed the percussion duo "Zen Din" with Gustavo Aguilar. Combining world music with free improvisation. Zen Din has toured the US(6 cities) and Korea.
The Free music Duo, with Kang Tae Hwan(as) also formed in 1996,
has performed over 150 times in Japan and Korea, and opens the annual Free Music Festival in Seoul, Korea.
in 1997-1998 Performance in Malaysia, Swiss, Egypt, Japan....
in December of 1999, he will release "Mol-e mori 2",a collection
of live performances with Masahiko Satoh(p), Wadada Leo Smith(tp). in 2000, he came to Japan 2 weeks play together many different style of Japanese musicians, percussion duo Zen Din concert in US 8 cities and he had Sergey Kuryohin memorial jazz festival, concert tour in Russia(Moscow,Petersburg, Vologda).
in 2001, he released the solo CD "Worship" , he started free music duo "Miyeon&Park"with pianist Miyeon. and he performed Yokohama jazz promenade with Otomo Yoshihide(guitar, turntable) and "Drum Unique"in Malaysia.
in 2002, he released the trio CD "Improvised Memories" with Kang Tae Hwan(as), Miyeon(pf). he produced to KBS TV Drama Music and composed to Korean traditional style, also released OST ("Tae Yang In-Lee Je Ma").
in 2003, he released CD "Loose Community"in Japan(with Otomo, Miyeon, Gunter Muller, Tanaka Yumiko, Sachiko M).he had concert tour in Silk Road (Samarakant, Tashikent).he formed new contemporary avant-garde trio"SORI NUMGI" with Ge-Suk Yeo(sop-vo) and Miyeon(p). in 2004, The trio "SORI NUMGI" released the CD "Sound Skipping". he had concert tour in Africa (Zimbabwe,)and Turkey(Ankara,Istanbul). and tour in Germany,Denmark,Belgium.
in 2005,he released the trio "SORI NUMGI 2"and "Queen&King" of Duo 'Miyeon&Park'. he has concert tour in Malta,Libya,kuwait,UAE.
His project group'Drum on drum'had concert tour in Korea (Kimhae,Yeoju,Jeonju,Gapyoung,Seoul,Heyri).Also,he had a art producer of '5th FAM festival'.

he played together many foreign improviser, as Masahiko Satoh(p) ,Kang TaeHwan(a.s), Sainkho Namchylak(vo), Wadada Leo Smith(tp), Ned Rothenberg(reed), Aki Takase(p), Daisuke Fuwa(b),
Gerry Hemingway(dr), Yoshihide Otomo(gt,elec), Kazutoki "Doctor" Umezu(reed), Alfred Harth(reed) and others.

His instruments set is mixed by western drum set and Korean traditional Percussions.
When he plays on stage he sitting on floor, this is looking funny but reasonable style to him, and it will come from typical Asian spirit.
Because almost Asian traditional music had been played by sitting musician.
